Feeling doubly blessed today. New CollAge Magazine just accepted one of my poems.
I'm feeling honored by the good news regarding my work. Word For/Word just accepted a couple of my poems, which will appear in the summer issue. Thanks to Jonathan Minton!
Is it any wonder that serious writing seems lost in the blather of how much I’m going to have to pay Barnes & Noble to have my cardboard display of this week’s vampire novel up towards the front door?

Wordle: Untitled

http://www.wordle.net/

But that's the last of it. I'm cutting you off. Back to the streets among the urchins you go, poem.

And that is of course one of the main features of Ashbery's poetic: living at a moment when one's language is so wholly permeated by the discourses that endlessly impinge on it, a Keatsian image complex, or even an Eliotic distinction between citation and invention--the distinction, say, between the Dantean epigraph ("S'io credesse. . .") of "Prufrock" and the later reference to those lonely men in shirt-sleeves, leaning out of windows"--is felt to be no longer possible.

Reading Self -Portrait in a Convex Mirror, Archie Ammons' copy of it, given to me as he shed the things of this world.
